Weddings in Ela: And the Bride wore Ela India….:)
Posted on August 13 2024
For a brand to be a part of someone’s wedding day is a special moment, without question. We had this privilege in early August when Narmadha & Robert tied the knot in a special multi-cultural ceremony set in a picturesque British town. The bride and groom chose to honour their roots by wearing something that represented their respective cultures.
The bride wore a handwoven Ela India Silver Kasavu saree that she paired with a Malaysian Batik crop top, an ode to her mixed Indian and Malaysian heritage respectively. The groom wore a Scottish kilt and a mundu as well for the ceremony.
Narmadha sent us a sweet note after the wedding which read as follows:
"I just wanted to let you know that I used your silver Kasavu saree for my wedding last Saturday and it went down a treat! Super comfortable and it was so easy to drape as well. I paired it with a Malaysian batik crop top to bring both Indian and Malaysian elements of my culture in my outfit"
When Narmadha ordered the Silver Kasavu saree from our website in February this year, we had no idea she was choosing a saree for her wedding day. She was visiting India from the United Kingdom and was in Kochi for a few days.
She found us online and got in touch before purchasing the saree, to ask about shipping rates to the UK and shipping timelines. She was leaving in a few days and didn’t think she would be able to rely on shipping timelines locally.
We answered all her questions and assured her that if she wanted to avoid paying excess international shipping charges, she could order it while she was still in Kochi and we would ensure that she received her saree in time before her departure. And we kept our word:)
But since we didn’t know the history behind why she was buying the Kasavu in the first place, her text to us last week came as such a sweet surprise. She shared a picture from the ceremony and also shared how she loved wearing our Kasavu on the occasion- the best surprise ever.
A big thank you to the bride for choosing us to be a part of her special day.
Congratulations to Narmadha & Robert, here's wishing them a very happy married life 🌸
We would also like to thank photographer Ashley Coombs for the stunning wedding photographs, that he kindly sent over on request. You can check out Ashley’s work on Instagram here
